Abstract

The career psychology in Venezuela became available as a degree program at universities in the mid-50s graduates of the first promotions organized the College of Psychologists of Venezuela in 1961, which later became the Federation of Psychologists of Venezuela with the approval of the law in the year in 1978. the first master's program in psychology offered in 1974 and specialized in 1979. The first doctorate was offered in 1989. Today there are about 14,000 professionals of whom more 9000 are recorded according to law. Most professionals practicing in Industrial Psychology and Clinical Psychology but also in the fields of education, health, sport and recreation, environmental, consumer, and social community among others. The professionals also participate in Scientific and Professional Societies. The union organization comprising psychologists, delegated by the State, is responsible for protecting the interests of the recipients of psychological services and the interests of its members. Psychology in Venezuela currently has the important challenge of fighting against intrusion and to become more publicly visible, making the lobbying necessary to participate in and influence the formulation and development of public policy where discipline can contribute to the development of the Company.
